Accuracy, sources, interpretation, and verification

OWVAZ takes accuracy seriously. Information is researched and organized using public records, official government sources, and other authoritative sources whenever practical. Important factual claims are expected to be supported by identifiable evidence.

OWVAZ may summarize, organize, categorize, compare, or explain public records and other source material. Those explanations are not themselves official government records and should be read together with the identified sources when the distinction matters.

Reasonable people can sometimes interpret the same record or collection of records differently. OWVAZ aims to distinguish documented facts from interpretation and to identify material uncertainty when the available evidence does not establish a conclusion. AI output is not treated as an authoritative source.

Public information can also change after publication. When a current deadline, legal requirement, eligibility determination, or other time-sensitive official information matters, residents should confirm the current information with the responsible agency or authoritative source.

Proposals, budgets, and public records

OWVAZ distinguishes between what public records document and what those records do not establish. A proposal, budget request, appropriation, planned purchase, or similar record does not by itself prove that a project, purchase, policy, system, or deployment was ultimately completed or put into use.

When the available public record does not establish a fact, OWVAZ aims to say so rather than fill the gap with an assumption.

Completeness

OWVAZ works to identify and explain useful public information, but the site may not contain every relevant record, update, event, agency action, or development.

The absence of information from OWVAZ should not by itself be treated as evidence that an event, action, record, purchase, decision, or other development did not occur.

Inclusion does not imply wrongdoing or endorsement

The inclusion or discussion of a person, public official, organization, business, expenditure, contract, technology, proposal, investigation, government action, or public record on OWVAZ does not by itself imply wrongdoing, misconduct, endorsement, criticism, affiliation, or any conclusion beyond what the cited information supports.

Likewise, linking to, quoting, or identifying an external person, organization, agency, business, or source does not by itself mean that OWVAZ or its operator endorses or is affiliated with that person or entity.

External sources and links

OWVAZ links to government agencies, public documents, meeting systems, utilities, and other external sources so residents can review information at its source.

OWVAZ does not operate or control those external resources. External websites and documents can change, move, become unavailable, or contain information that OWVAZ has not independently verified.

Reliance, professional information, and emergencies

OWVAZ provides civic information to help residents understand their communities and locate authoritative sources. Residents remain responsible for decisions they make based on information obtained from OWVAZ or from sources linked by OWVAZ.

OWVAZ does not provide legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice. Information involving legal rights, deadlines, eligibility, emergency services, financial decisions, or other consequential matters should be confirmed with the responsible agency or a qualified professional when appropriate.

OWVAZ is not an emergency service. For emergencies, use the appropriate official emergency service.

No professional or official relationship

Using OWVAZ does not create an attorney-client, financial-advisory, medical, fiduciary, governmental, or other professional relationship between a resident and OWVAZ or its operator.

OWVAZ does not act on behalf of a government agency merely because it provides, summarizes, or links to government information.

Corrections

OWVAZ aims to correct factual errors when reliable information shows that a published statement is inaccurate or incomplete.

Residents are encouraged to provide corrections and supporting sources through the Contact page.

Responsibility for external changes and consequential reliance

OWVAZ and its operator are not responsible for changes made by government agencies or other third parties after OWVAZ information was researched or published, or for an external website, document, service, or resource being changed, moved, or made unavailable.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, OWVAZ and its operator are not responsible for losses resulting from a person’s failure to verify time-sensitive or consequential information with the responsible authoritative source when such verification is appropriate.
