About
What Our West Valley AZ is and how it works.
Our West Valley AZ is an independent, noncommercial civic-information project for Arizona’s West Valley. It is not affiliated with the City of Avondale or any other government agency.
Why OWVAZ exists
Useful local-government information is often spread across city websites, budgets, meeting portals, agendas, reports, and other public records. OWVAZ organizes that information around what residents are trying to find and explains it in plain language.
Find it. Understand it. Go to the source if you want more.
How information is researched
OWVAZ takes accuracy seriously and prefers authoritative primary sources such as official government websites, adopted budgets, agendas, minutes, resolutions, contracts, and public records.
Important factual claims should be traceable to identifiable evidence. Summaries and explanations are intended to make source material easier to understand, not to replace the underlying records. When an official source or service is available, OWVAZ links residents directly to it.
When available evidence does not establish something, OWVAZ aims to identify that limitation rather than fill the gap with an assumption.
Editorial independence
OWVAZ is independently operated. It is not operated by or on behalf of a city, government agency, political candidate, campaign, political party, or government contractor.
The project is noncommercial and is intended to help residents find, understand, and verify information about their communities.
Use of artificial intelligence
OWVAZ may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with organizing, comparing, summarizing, researching, and presenting information. AI tools may also assist with technical work involved in developing and maintaining the website.
AI output is not treated as an authoritative source. Factual claims published by OWVAZ are expected to be supported by underlying records or other identifiable sources, and important claims should be verified against those sources whenever practical.
Corrections
Accuracy is an ongoing responsibility. When reliable information shows that OWVAZ has published a factual error or that important context is missing, OWVAZ aims to correct or clarify the information.
Residents are encouraged to provide corrections and supporting sources through the Contact page.
Privacy
OWVAZ is designed so residents can use the site without being tracked or profiled by OWVAZ. The current site does not require resident accounts and is designed without advertising, tracking pixels, behavioral analytics, browser or device fingerprinting, or third-party social trackers. Site searches run in the resident’s browser.
Read the OWVAZ Privacy page for details about search, cookies, browser storage, external links, and the site’s privacy-by-design approach.
